How your neighborhood may be affected:


  • Through lanes may be closed or reduced
  • Sidewalks at intersections may be closed
  • A detour option will be provided if roads are closed to through traffic
  • On-street parking may be restricted

Regional Urban Water Augmentation Project (RUWAP)

Coe Avenue to Pacific Crest Drive

On June 15, 2020, the MCWD Board of directors awarded a Construction Contract to Monterey Peninsula Engineering for the District’s Regional Urban Water Augmentation Project (RUWAP) - Recycled Water Distribution Pipelines phase, which also includes three potable water line projects. The RUWAP consists of the construction of recycled water distribution pipelines to provide recycled water from the Monterey One Water‘s (M1W) Advanced Water Treatment Plant (AWTP) north of Marina to urban users in the MCWD service area and former Fort Ord, which include the Cities of Marina, Seaside, Del Rey Oaks, the County of Monterey and California State University Monterey Bay. Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project

General Jim Moore Blvd between Hilby and Coe Avenue

California American Water is working on the installation of 5,300 feet of a water transmission main pipeline. For more information on the project visit their website at: www.watersupplyproject.org.

Expect Traffic Controls and possible detours:

November 23 - November 24, 2021: Paving restoration on General Jim Moore Boulevard and Hilby Avenue.

November 29, 2021: Construction of the pipeline proceeds to the next segment between Broadway Avenue and San Pablo Street.

California American Water (CalAm) Water Main Relocation

Kimball Avenue between Wheeler Street and Fremont Boulevard

California American Water is working on a water main replacement with concrete and asphalt restoration to follow. Project completion estimation is December 2021.

Expect Traffic Controls and possible detours:

11/29-12/3: Finalize service installation and pressure testing

12/6-12/10: Chlorination and disinfection of main with samples to be taken and tested. Water shut off on December 7th.

12/13-12/24: Final tie in and final paving

Marina Coast Water District (MCWD) Sanitary Sewer Force Main Project

1st Avenue between Gigling Road and Lightfighter Drive

Marina Coast Water District is continuing work on the work on the Sanitary Sewer Force Main Project

Expect Traffic Controls and possible detours:

Monday 11/29 to Tuesday 11/30 - Night work: Trenching across Lightfighter Drive.

Tuesday 11/30 to Wed 11/31 - Night work: Continues across Lightfighter Drive

Wednesday 12/1 - No work

Thursday 12/2 - Thursday, 12/16 - 1st Ave Road closure: Road will be closed to through traffic during daytime work hours
